SERUDS started Joy Home Children Orphanage in Budhavarapeta, Kurnool in December 2012. Today Joy Home shelters 42 boys and girls in the age group of 4 to 16 years. These abandoned orphan, street children are belongs to different family backgrounds like father died with HIV/AIDS and mother committed suicide, father is drunken and mother left children & living with other person, both parents died due to personal reasons. In this critical juncture we identified and bought the children to SERUDS Children Home – Joy Home. We think that if someone not cares about these unfortunate children at this situation they may become anti-social elements in the society. That is why we strictly follow & give importance to keep them in good shelter, provide education support, counselling and motivation about career, extracurricular activities, sports and games. SERUDS Creche Program : Day Care Centers for Children SERUDS is a non-government organization (NGO) in India working for the welfare of poor and vulnerable children in Andhra Pradesh, India apart from women, elders and youth. Children of poor families, where both parents go out to work are the most vulnerable. Their food, education and health needs are neglected. Seruds started its first child welfare program in 2003 with 10 children living in slums. Today we support 180 children, between the age of 1 year to 6 years, from slums and villages around Kurnool district through 6 creche or daycare centers. These children come from poor families where both parents work as construction or farm laborers. During work day, they are unable to take care of their children. Thanks to Seruds daycare centers, they are able to leave their kids in a safe environment, from morning till evening. Sponsor a Destitute Elder Woman Elderly women who are poor and live alone or with dependent children find them vulnerable, powerless and are neglected by their family or grown up children. Many are too old or physically weak and thus unable to find work. They are forced to beg, and are often homeless. Moved by the plight of destitute single women, Seruds has taken up program of sponsoring elderly women on an urgent basis. Our volunteers and staff members conducted surveys and identified 120 destitute women who are above 60 year of age. These elderly women are widows or have been abandoned by their husbands. Some have children, but the children live apart and do not take care of their mothers. They do not have money for food, medical care and other basic necessities. SERUDS has been supporting 20 such old women by providing food rations and other necessities every month at their door step.
